Why Huddle exists

Youth soccer runs on parent volunteers. Most of them have never been coached on how to coach. They sign up because someone had to, then spend Sunday nights searching for drills, hoping the ones they picked are right for eight-year-olds and hoping the hour holds together.

The tools a league already runs on are logistics tools. They handle registration, rosters, and schedules well. None of them help with the actual work of coaching, which is the part volunteers find hardest and the part that decides whether a kid comes back next season.

What Huddle does

Huddle generates a full practice session for one specific team. It starts from the team's age group, the formation the coach plays, and whether the team has a goalie, then builds warmup through cool-down with a time range on every block.

Each drill comes out fully drawn up: a field diagram showing where players and cones go, setup written for the equipment a volunteer actually carries, “what to look for” coaching cues, and one line each on making the drill harder or easier without stopping the session.

After practice, coaches rate the drills they ran. Those ratings feed straight back into drill selection, so the plan a coach gets in week eight reflects what has worked for that group, not what worked for everyone else.

Coaches can also message their co-coaches inside the app, so the staff running a team stays in sync on plans and last-minute changes.

Huddle sits alongside the platform your league already uses. Registration, rosters, and schedules stay where they are. Coaches use Huddle for the work only they can do.

What we believe

Some opinions are built into the product rather than left as settings:

• Equal playing time matters at this age
• Rotations should be balanced, not stacked
• Volunteer coaches need teaching, not just tools
• Coaching decisions belong to the coach, not the sideline

Where Huddle is today

Huddle launched league-wide with San Rafael Youth Soccer in August 2026. Every coach in the league, from TK teams through high school, has access for the season. SRYS is a design partner as much as a user, and the product changes weekly based on what its coaches report back.

We are adding leagues for the coming season.

Who is building it

Huddle is built by Joe Nazzaro, a product leader and a youth soccer coach. He coaches his daughters’ teams in Marin County, which is where the problem came from and where most of the product testing still happens. Every feature in Huddle exists because a practice went badly without it.
